Color Cruise

November 5, 2011

The weather was "pert near" perfect, the event was a sellout and we had an abundance of color to see. All in all...an excellent Color Cruise. A marked contrast to last years cold, damp, windy day. The Edgar Evins Marina was gracious enough to lend us 3 pontoon boats for the day. With the park's boat we were able to fill up and launch a total of 4 boats to enjoy a glorious afternoon on the lake.

We spent a full 2 hours on the water and went all the way up to the Hurricane Bridge. We took in all the sights of celebrity homes and saw loons, wood ducks, great blue herons and mallards along the way. This is one of our most popular events of the year and we had folks from all over Middle Tennessee  participating.

A big "Thank You" to Peggy Richardson for doing the registration and Greg Christensen, Scotty Richardson and Mark Taylor for driving the boats.

Our Annual Color Cruise was somewhat diminished this year due to weather. It turned out to be a lovely day...if brisk...The sun was out and there was very little wind. The temperatures stayed in the upper 40's but with warm clothes it was a good day to be on the lake. The stalwarts that braved the day all reported a very good outing. We take a chance on the weather every year and sometimes it's better than others.

We were treated this year to be able to see the "tater cave" because of the low water level in the lake. This is a natural cave that people stored their Irish potato crops in every winter. We also enjoyed seeing the homes of some famous people...Alan Jackson, Darryl Waltrip, etc. There was also some good color left in the hardwoods along the lake shore.

Thanks to everyone that showed up and for those who helped make it a special day...
